Tauné Block (born 20th of January 1993) is a South African actress, TV presenter, commercial model and vocalist. Professionally known as TaunyB, she is best known for her role of Dr. Loren Blue on the SABC1 soapie Skeem Saam. She also appeared on Generations – The Legacy, Suidooster and hosted the reality series My Matriekfskeid.

Early Life and Education

Tauné Block was born on January 20, 1993 in diamond mines city of Kimberley, Northern Cape in South Africa. She was raise in Kimberley where she started learning ballet dance at the age of three years old and continued for the next 12 years. Growing up with passion for acting and performing arts on stage, Tauńe would sing, dance or perform plays throughout her schooling days.

“I’ve always been a performer. I started ballet at the age of three and did it for 12 years. If I wasn’t dancing, I was singing. If I wasn’t singing, I was performing in school productions.” She said in an interview with Sowetan.

She attended Newton Primary School and then Kimberley Girls’ High School. After obtaining her matric, she wanted to make her dream of a performer come true, therefore she enrolled for Drama and Theatre Studies at the University of Stellenbosch. She also considered studying law if she would not find space to study drama in tertiary. While studying at Stellenbosch University, Tauńe mastered her skills in acting through varsity theatre productions and plays.

Career of Tauné Block

Tauńe Block bagged her debut professional role in television on Afrikaans reality TV Show Suidooster. Desiring to build her career, she left Cape Town for Johannesburg where she said to have arrived with faith, bags and her car. Upon arrival, she landed a minor role in Generations: The Legacy. This gave her exposure to mainstream soap operas where big stars appear.

Tauné gained more recognition for hosting the popular Afrikaans reality TV show My Matriekafskeid on Via TV. In early 2025, she joined the cast of the long-running SABC1 series Skeem Saam as Dr. Loren Blue, a medical doctor at Joburg Prison who becomes involved in a high-profile romantic love triangle with the “Prehasa” couple.

“When I first got the role, I was excited because Skeem Saam has an incredible reputation. Loren started out in a prison environment, particularly in the men’s section, which meant I had to think about how she would carry herself.” She said to Sowetan interviewer.,” she said.

She works as a commercial model and has explored entrepreneurship. She is also active as a vocalist. Tauné Block is represented by agencies such as Artists One and has been part of Elysian Management. Her professional profile lists her as approximately 155 cm tall with measurements suited for commercial and acting roles.

Her parents are still alive and she recently celebrated her father’s 60th birthday.
