Bellarmine Mugabe (born 26 May 1997) is the youngest son of Robert Mugabe and Grace Mugabe. He became known for a lavish and for controversial lifestyle including breaking the law in Zimbabwe and in South Africa.

Early Life and Family of Bellarmine Mugabe
Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe was born in Harare, Zimbabwe on 26 May 1997. He was born to the late former president of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe and former first lady Grace Mugabe. He was raised at the famous “Blue Roof” mansion in Borrowdale, Harare. As a result, he experienced wealth and political influence from a young age. His father led the country for decades, while his mother rose from being a secretary to First Lady.
He has two older siblings, his sister Bona Mugabe who was born in 1988, and his brother, Robert Mugabe Jr. who was born in 1992. Together, they formed a well-known political family in Zimbabwe appearing at rallies and public events with their parents.
Education of Bellarmine Mugabe
Bellarmine attended St. Michael’s Presentation Primary School from 2003 to 2005. He then moved to Hartmann House Prep School from 2006 to 2009. After that, he enrolled at St. George’s College in Harare. However, the school expelled him in 2013 because Bellarmine was stubbon and mischievous. As a result, he completed the rest of his secondary education through home-schooling.
Business Career of Bellarmine Mugabe
After his father Robert Mugabe was ousted in 2017, Bellarmine and his brother Robert Jr. started hosting nfluencer-style branding and luxury event hosting across Southern Africa. From 2023 he developed interest mining particularly in Mazowe, Zimbabwe, but some reports suggest his mining activities were illegal.
Lifestyle
As he grew older, Bellarmine Mugabe gained attention for his lavish lifestyle. Alongside his brother Robert Jr., he frequently shared posts on social media. These posts often showed luxury cars, designer brands like Gucci and Rolex, and expensive champagne.
This behaviour might have been something they picked from their mother who became known as Gucci Grace because of her love for shopping sprees and luxury clothing brands. As a result, he became associated with wealth and excess.
After the 2017 military intervention in Zimbabwe, he moved to Johannesburg. There, he lived in the affluent suburb of Hyde Park. This marked a shift in his life following his father’s removal from power.
Legal Challenges (2023–2026)

In recent years, Bellarmine Mugabe has faced several legal issues in both Zimbabwe and South Africa.
In Zimbabwe 2023, he was accused of assaulting driver Lazarus Pairemanzi along Samora Machel Avenue in Harare after a road dispute. Then in 2024 while travelling from South Africa, Bellarmine had an altercation with a police officer near Beitbridge border. The altercation emanated after Chatunga accused the police officer of delaying him during a roadblock and eventually assaulted him, grabbing him by a collar and ripping off his shirt buttons.
In 2025, authorities arrested him for allegedly leading an armed group that attacked security guards at Ultimate Mine in Mazowe. In addition, in 2024, he allegedly used a taser on a truck driver at his mother’s Iron Mask Farm for failing to greet him with respect.
In South Africa, further incidents followed. In February 2026, police arrested him with his cousin after he allegedly shot his gardener at his Hyde Park residence. After court proceedings, in April 2026, he pleaded guilty to pointing a toy firearm and to violating South African immigration laws. As a result, he paid a fine of R600,000. Shortly after, authorities deported him back to Zimbabwe on 29 April 2026.
