Early Life and Family of Bellarmine

Bellarmine Chatunga Mugabe was born in Harare, Zimbabwe. He grew up at the famous “Blue Roof” mansion in Borrowdale. As a result, he experienced wealth and political influence from a young age. His father led the country for decades, while his mother rose from being a secretary to First Lady.

He has two older siblings. His sister, Bona Mugabe, was born in 1988. His brother, Robert Mugabe Jr., was born in 1992. Together, they formed a well-known political family in Zimbabwe. [3]

Bellarmine attended St. Michael’s Presentation Primary School from 2003 to 2005. He then moved to Hartmann House Prep School from 2006 to 2009. After that, he enrolled at St. George’s College in Harare. However, the school expelled him in 2013 due to disciplinary issues. As a result, he completed the rest of his secondary education through home-schooling. [4]

As he grew older, Bellarmine Mugabe gained attention for his lifestyle. Alongside his brother Robert Jr., he frequently shared posts on social media. After the 2017 military intervention in Zimbabwe, he moved to Johannesburg. There, he lived in the affluent suburb of Hyde Park. This marked a shift in his life following his father’s removal from power. [5]

In recent years, Bellarmine Mugabe has faced several legal issues in both Zimbabwe and South Africa.

In Zimbabwe, he was accused of assault in 2023 after a road dispute in Harare. Then, between 2024 and 2025, authorities arrested him for allegedly leading an armed group that attacked security guards at Ultimate Mine in Mazowe. In addition, in 2024, he allegedly used a taser on a truck driver at his mother’s Iron Mask Farm for failing to show respect. [6]

In South Africa, further incidents followed. In February 2026, police arrested him after a shooting incident involving a gardener at his Hyde Park residence. Later, in April 2026, he pleaded guilty to pointing a toy firearm and to illegal immigration. As a result, he paid a fine of R600,000. Shortly after, authorities deported him back to Zimbabwe on 29 April 2026. [5]
