Mortimer Williams (born 22 April 1974) is a South African actor, singer, dancer, presenter and entertainer. He is best known for his starring role as Ricci September in the SABC2 drama series Erfsondes. He held a recurring role as Petersen in Skeem Saam. Mortimer also made appearances in popular shows such as 7de Laan, Isidingo, Scandal!, and Soul Buddyz.

Early Life and Background
Mortimer Williams was born on 22 April 1974 in Cape Town, South Africa. He was raise in Cape Town and attended Grassy Park Senior Secondary. Growing up, he had a strong passion for the performing arts. As a result, he began his professional career in the mid-1990s. He speaks English, Afrikaans, and French.
Stage Career of Mortimer Williams

Mortimer Williams started his acting career as a stage actor in 1994. His debut role was in David Kramer’s play Poison. The following year he travelled to Malaysia with the show. Then he appeared in Taliep Petersen at the Baxter Theatre. His other theatre performances is in productions such as Fiddler on the Roof, Grease – The Musical, and Fiela’s Child, where he played Dawid. He also appeared in Evita and Antjie Somers at venues like Artscape Theatre.
In 2000, he took on a lead role in Honk! as Ugly. This performance earned him a Vita Award nomination. After that he appeared on Richard Loring productions including African Footprint, which toured internationally to Atlanta, China, India, and Australia. Mortimer Williams has an extensive resume covering his work in theatre for over three decades.
TV and Film Career of Mortimer Williams

Mortimer Williams television acting career began in 1999, when he appeared as Arthur Dickson in the short film, The Patrick Dickson Story. In the early 2000s, he joined and appeared in several drama serials including 7de Laan, Isidingo, and Scandal!. After building his reputation, Mortimer starred in the SABC2 drama series, Erfsondes as Ricci September from 2007 to 2010.
In late 2010, he joined the SABC2 sitcom Rasdien, playing Mannie Rasdien, the over-achieving brother of Ben Rasdien (played by Joey Rasdien). He continued to build his television acting resume starring in SABC3 sitcom Safe as Hauser’s, playing the role of Clifton “Cliffy” Adonis.
Mortimer then appeared in the television series danZ!, playing the role of Suleiman ‘Solly’ Omar, from 2017 to 2018. In 2020 he played the role of Zaid in the film Barakat. Then in 2021 he played the role of a policeman in the project Hey Jude. He currently held a recurring role of Petersen in Skeem Saam alongside Hungani Ndlovu and Cedric Fourie.
Awards
Mortimer has also received awards and nominations during his 30 years as an actor. His first award was a Vita Award nomination for lead role in Anthony Drew’s film Honk. In 2021, he was nominated and won the Best Supporting Actor during the Idyllwild International Festival of Cinema for his role in the film Barakat. The following year he was nomined for SAFTA Golden Horn award in Best Supporting Actor category for his role on Skeem Saam.
