Dimakatso Calisa: Biography, Age, Zanzibar

Dimakatso Calisa (born 6 April 1993) is a South African diagnostic radiographer, fitness enthusiast, and reality TV personality. She is best known for winning Tropika Island of Treasure Season 11 (Zanzibar) in late 2024 alongside actor, Hungani Ndlovu.

Early Life and Education

Dimakatso Jane Calisa was born and bred in Free State province of South Africa. Growing up in the Free Stae, she attended Kheleng Secondary School. After that she pursued her tertiary education at the University of Johannesburg. She trained in the medical field.

Professional Career

After graduating at the University of Johannesburg, Caliso became a qualified diagnostic radiographer who specialises in medical imaging technologies. On top of her medical qualification, Caliso is a fitness trainer through social media platiforms such as Instagram and Tiktok.

Reality TV Success

Dimakatso’s career as reality television star began when she appeared alongside actor Hungani Ndlovu in reality television competition Tropika Island of Treasure Season 11. She competed as a “consumer contestant” and was paired with “celebrity contestant” Hungani, forming Team Orange. To Dimakatso appearing and participating in this show called it a journey to personal discovery.

My experience on the island is so enriching and a journey of self-discovery, I wouldn’t trade this for anything, I feel like I’m standing in front of a mirror and have been asked the question, who are you?’ I’m learning many new things about myself; how I behave when I’m extremely uncomfortable.” Said Dimakatso Caliso in an interview.

Dimakatso and her partner Hungani were least expected that they will win but the duo emerged victorious in December 2024. After winning the competition they were awarded R1 million grand prize which they would share, and each received a Suzuki Jimny 5-door.

Fitness and Philanthropy

A self-proclaimed fitness fanatic, Calisa actively participates in demanding physical competitions such as Hyrox and the Deadly Dozen. Caliso is also marathon runner who has completed multiple half-marathons (21 km).

Dimakatso is also dedicated to community development. In 2024 she has supported spelling bee competitions in the Lejweleputswa District and motivated matric learners at her former high school. She has also volunteered with the SPCA and contributed to donations aimed at assisting underprivileged children.
