Hem Kaur Saroya was born and raised in New Delhi. She attended Loreto Convent School, where she completed her early schooling.
She later pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communication at Amity University between 2015 and 2018. Driven by her interest in global politics and diplomacy, she went on to earn a Master’s degree in International Affairs and Diplomacy from the United Nations Institute for Training and Research from 2021 to 2023. Career of Hem Kaur Saroya
Hem Saroya began her media career in June 2016 when she joined Delhi Press Magazine as a copywriter and social media manager. Her early experience in content creation and digital media helped lay the foundation for her journalism career.
In June 2018, she joined NDTV as an anchor and assistant producer under NDTV Convergence Limited. Within less than a year, she advanced to the role of full-time reporter and anchor, gaining recognition for her on-screen presence and coverage of major news stories. [2]
Saroya later joined WION in August 2020 as a news anchor. During her time at the network, she hosted programs such as World DNA, a morning news show focused on international developments, and Untangled, a digital news and analysis platform.
Since early 2026, she has also become closely associated with Vantage on Firstpost, part of the Network18 group, following the departure of Palki Sharma from the network. In addition, she has contributed to CNN-News18. [3]

Hem Kaur Saroya comes from a Sikh Punjabi background, and her heritage has played an important role in shaping her identity and values. She follows Sikhism, a faith that emphasizes equality, honest living, and devotion to one God, known as Waheguru.
She has two siblings, a brother named Avijit Saroya and a sister, Avee Saroya. [4]
