Zane Meas (born 15 September 1965) is a celebrated South African actor, writer, director, and social activist whose career spans nearly four decades. He is best known for his iconic roles as Neville Meintjies in the long-running soap opera 7de Laan and Jack van Onselen in Isidingo. Beyond the screen, Meas is a passionate advocate for responsible fatherhood and the founder of the Fatherhood Foundation of South Africa.

Early Life and Education

Zane Meas was born in Riverlea. He later attended the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), where he graduated in 1989 with a Bachelor of Arts in Dramatic Arts.

During his third year at university, Meas made his professional acting debut, marking the beginning of a long and influential career in the performing arts. [1]

Zane Meas has remained a consistent and respected figure in South Africa’s arts and entertainment industry, working across television, theatre, and film.

Television: He rose to prominence in the early 1990s as the lead in the rugby drama The Game. Over the years, he has appeared in several popular productions, including Molo Fish, and Jo’burg Blues, for which he won an Avanti Award.

In 2017 appeared on Scandal! where he played the role of Wesley Thompson, the father Ingrid (by Stephanie Sandows). More recently, he featured in the drama series Paradys. [2]

Theatre: Meas has performed in numerous stage productions, such as Big Boys and The Blood Knot. He also contributed to South Africa’s first indigenous Afrikaans musicals, Antjie Somers and Vere. In 2024, he toured with a one-man tribute play titled Van Wyk: The Storyteller of Riverlea, honoring his late friend, author Chris van Wyk.

Film: His film credits include Forgiveness, Tarzan and the Lost City, Mutator, and Klip Anker Baai (2023), the latter of which he also wrote and directed. [2]

Fatherhood Foundation
