Manqoba Khumalo is a rising South African actor, voice-over artist, musician, and digital creator. He gained national attention in early 2026 after landing the role of Junior Nkosi, also known as DJ M’Jay, in the e.tv drama series Emzini: A Family Legacy.

Early Life and Background

Manqoba Mntungwa Khumalo was born in Mpuluzi, Mpumalanga, South Africa. He comes from a Swazi background and proudly embraces his cultural roots. In addition, he speaks siSwati, isiZulu, and English fluently. [1]

Education and Training

To build a professional acting career, Khumalo pursued formal training in performance and voice work.

He graduated from the African Academy of Cinematic Arts (AACA) in 2024, where he developed his screen acting skills. Afterwards, he continued his studies at The Voiceshop and specialised in professional voice-over work. [1]

Khumalo’s breakthrough came in 2026 when he joined Emzini: A Family Legacy as Junior Nkosi, also known as DJ M’Jay.

His character is the youngest son of the wealthy Nkosi family. Junior is portrayed as a spoiled and carefree young man who loves music and DJing. However, his comfortable lifestyle begins to unravel when family secrets and conflict emerge. [2]

Before his television breakthrough, Khumalo built experience through several acting productions linked to the African Academy of Cinematic Arts (AACA). In 2024, he played a lead role in Flight To Madness, a production developed through the academy.

In the same year, he also starred as a lead actor in May I?, another AACA production that helped showcase his screen performance abilities. Furthermore, he has worked in ADR (Automated Dialogue Replacement) for film post-production. [1]

Khumalo works as a professional voice-over artist and collaborates with agencies such as The Voiceshop on commercial projects. He is also active as a podcast host and digital content creator. [3]
