Early Life and Education

Kimberley Richard was born as Kimberley Chigubu on 21 September 2021 in Zimbabwe’s second capital city, Bulawayo. She was born to Richard Chigubu, her father, whose first name inspired her professional last name “Richard”. When she decided to register her Instagram, she just combined her first name and her father’s to form Kimberley Richard. This has become her professional name until today. She was born in a family of six and she is the only girl. Kimberley was raised together with her five in KwaNtuthu Ziyathunqa in Bulawayo.

Growing up in KwaNtuthu Ziyathunqa, Kimberley developed interest in singing early in primary school. She would sing at school and at church. After maturing in singing, she sang together with church ladies group and recording songs with them. But it never crossed her mind that one day she would become a singer.

“However, I started singing when I was really young from primary school and never really thought that one day, I’d branch out and be an independent artist which I’m considering.” She said in an interview with Chronicles publication.

Education

Kimberley Richard attended her primary school back in Bulawayo at SOS Children Village, Bulawayo Adventist  School (BAS) and then she attended Townsend High School. After completing her high school, she enrolled at Political Science and Diplomacy at the University of Zimbabwe (UZ). She graduated in 2024 with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Diplomacy from UZ.

Modelling and Beauty Pageant

Kimberley Richard started her career in modeling while in university at University of Zimbabwe. She was crown 2020 Miss UZ’s First Princess and then she was crown the 2022 Most Influential Personality on Campus by popular vote.

“I started modelling at primary school, but I had never tried it at a pageant level. I explored modelling at the pageantry level at UZ in which I walked away with two crowns.” Said Kimberley. “I also hold the best model/video vixen and Best Event Host titles,” she added.

Entertainment and Music Videos

Kimberley was introduced to music by her then boyfriend who is now her husband, Holy Ten back in late 2021 and early 2022. According to Kimberley, becoming a musician and singer was not in her mind even though she was good at singing. It was when she dated Holy 10 that she was encouraged to sing. She made her debut feature and appearance on Holy 10’s song titled “Too Scared”.

“I was refusing to record. Actually, I was afraid, but he took me through the process until I actually recorded the song the day before it was released.” She said.

After releasing Too Scared, she went on to be featured on Holy 10 song titled “Banga” in 2022. Her other songs where she was featured is “I Do” by Holy 10 which was released in 2024 and Hellelujah in 2025. She also sang on Holy 10’s “Ndotokuda” which was released on February 9, 2024 as part of the album “Risk Life 2”.

Kimberley has not yet released her own songs where she wasn’t featured. However, in 2022 when interviewed by the Chronicles Showbiz, she expressed interest in doing so in the future.

“I mean, there’s no way I’m going to be featuring on Holy’s songs forever. At some point, I have to stand alone and be an independent artiste. I’ll have music that will have my sound and authenticity.” She said to Chronicles Showbiz.

Personal Life

Kimberley Richard got married to Holy Ten in a traditional wedding ceremony held in March 2023. Reports surrounding the marriage indicated that the lobola negotiations were valued at approximately US$15,000. In July 2023, the couple welcomed their son, Mukudzei Jr., commonly known as MJ.

Their relationship has often attracted public attention and online speculation. There were rumours of infidelity and controversies such as the widely discussed 2022 N1 Hotel scandal involving a student leader. Despite the scrutiny, the couple has remained together and continues to share aspects of their family life publicly.
