Beginnings

‘There was a helluva lot of fighting going on but now that we’re adults it’s good to be training with one another and being around each other. It’s fantastic and I wouldn’t have it any other way.” he said in an interview with ESPN.
In 2022 he turned professional. After that he rose through the ranks on the regional circuit, the HEX Fight Series. He became HEX Fight Series champion. In late 2023 he won the HEX Fight Series Welterweight title which was breakthrough in his career. On 2 March 2024, he had an opportunity to defend his title against Aldin Bates. He lost the fight and this became his first loss in his professional career.
His next fight was scheduled on 7 September 2024 against Matt Vaile at HEX Fight Series 32. Before the fight, his manager had told him that there could be another opportunity if he wins the fight without injury. He took note of that and won his fight against Matt Vaile with a submission in the first round. He later describe Matt as a “super tough opponent who was supposed to be the boogeyman”.
Winning the battle against Matt Vaile open him doors into Dana White’s Contender Series. He had another fight against Mohamed Ado on 15 October 2024. He defeated him by first-round triangle choke to secure a UFC contract. This came shortly after the birth of his first child. When the call to this series came, Jonathan was working with his father in his renovation business.
